Our Apartment

When we first moved into this apartment I said I would post pictures later, so now that time has come. I guess I was waiting for some furniture and accessories, but now I realize this is as good as its going to get.

First is a picture of our living room. I took this picture from the hallway. Directly to my left is the kitchen with a bar into the living room. At the far left of the picture on the same wall as the TV is where our front door is.

This next one is of Kinley's "room". Its actually the dining area located directly behind the couch in the above picture. Kinley is so kindly showing you her big-girl bed and chair (that she gets in trouble for standing in).

Last is our bedroom in this big place. And yes, this is it a bed and some curtains for the bright morning sun. We do have a large closet, but you obviously can't see it. We also have a bathroom, of course, but I didn't think y'all needed to see it. It looks pretty much like a normal bathroom.

That's it for now. Tom is just training this weekend, so I'll let you know anything when I do.

A Pony Tail

Just wanted to share with everyone...Kinley's first ponytail! Its not much of one, but enough hair to actually put in the rubber band is a big step for us. I doubt she will wear her hair like this much, but at least we know we can do it.

Kinley-Style

I've written a little bit lately about Kinley showing her opinions, and I just wanted give you a glimpse of this. This little toy Kinley has enjoyed playing with, but not in the traditional sense you think. She has her own style and opinion of what looks good.

Here is the little toy. Kinley's getting some ideas...

This is after a couple of seconds. She has an affinity for putting anything she can fit on her wrists. This is just something else that fits right now.

We'll keep you updated on Kinley's new styles and ideas.

Nebraska Invtational

Today Tom competed at the University of Nebraska. He threw javelin, discus and shot put. We really lucked out with the weather. All yesterday, last night, and tonight Lincoln had severe thunderstorms and the threat of tornadoes, but during the meet the weather was great. A bit windy, ok really windy, but great. Tom threw javelin first. He hasn't thrown full since last year's US Championships and that was only 1 throw, so to throw 6 was good. Let me preface this again by saying how windy it was...His first couple throws were not good, but after he jogged into a short approach, he threw 58.96. Not too shabby.

Next was discus. He was actually throwing really well, but the wind was horrible for a lefty. He said it felt like the best he has ever thrown, but there was no help from Mother Nature. He ended up with a best of 48.52. This probably would have been a PR on any other day, but overall this was a good event today.
(No picture here, Kinley was sleeping on me during this even, sorry)
Last was shot put. To put it mildly, this started off horribly! I was dreading the ride home. Almost 3 hours with a very pissed off Tom, not fun. But...Tom really stepped up and pulled himself out. He got composed, talked with Cliff, ok, probably talked to Cliff first, and threw like a champ. He increased to 16.01. Not too far off his PR.

All in all today was good. Things are falling into place in the throws. Tom feels more relaxed in the discus circle, he gets excited to throw shot put, and he knows javelin is just a starting point right now. Hopefully things will continue this way. Just keep praying for him and I'll try to keep you updated.

Big Girl

Just wanted to give y'all a glimpse of the person Kinley is becoming. Lately she has started to show her opinion on what she wants to wear and the toys she wants to bring when we go out. Sometimes she wants to carry a purse, or a baby or a blanket, and sometimes she "needs" all three. As for her clothes, she doesn't mind too much what I pick out for her, but she often likes to get her own shoes. Luckily they usually match, but I still find it funny that she has an opinion on that. This morning we went to the store and I had already dresses Kinley, but apparently not with the right shoes. She chose a pair of sandals when she was wearing tennis shoes. This wasn't too big a deal. She just needed an extra explanation. In order to get out of the house without a brush in hand, she wanted to wear a head band. I don't really like little fu-fu stuff on babies without hair, but this is one of my headbands, but it fits Kinley well.
Anyway, when we got home to play, she added a few more accessories. This is Kinley at lunch with the headband around her neck, the bunny ears are a little bent, and the plastic bracelet just fell off.

Oh, boy...I can't wait until she gets older :)
