A Date With Daddy

This morning Kinley had her first "Daddy Date". Tom usually goes to breakfast on Wednesday mornings with a few friends. This morning Kinley was awake and I wasn't ready to be, so I strongly suggested Tom take her along. He changed her diaper, put shoes and a jacket on her and off they went. They came home about an hour later with only good news. Kinley ate a good breakfast and was smiling, and Tom said no problems. I consider this a success! Hopefully they will continue to have these special dates.

First Competition of 2007

Last night Tom competed for the first time this year. He and his coach talked about it and decided on the 800. Tom was a little nervous because he has never run this distance outside of practice. As the start time grew closer, I was the one getting the nerves. I was so excited/nervous/anxious for Tom, and yet there was not a thing I could do for him. I'm going to be a wreck when Kinley starts doing things. Anyway, Tom did great for his first 800. He ran a little too fast at the beginning, but all in all, he held together pretty well.

These are pictures of lap one and two. Obviously I need to work on my one-hand-holding-Kinley photography skills. I'll try better next time.
Oh for those track fans. He was 27.5 then 56.4 then 1:27.? and finished at 2:02.94 officially.

Happy Valentine's Day

We had a pretty uneventful Valentine's Day. Kinley and I got to sleep in a little. Tom went to breakfast early and then to the track. Kinely and I finally drove to the track around 10. When we got in the car the temp. read 4! Yep, that's it 4. Like 1-2-3-4. We knew tonight would be total chaos, so Tom had the idea of Valentine's lunch. It was nice and quiet. We looked at a few houses today and actually saw a couple we liked. We'll just have to see though.

This is Kinley showing her new bath puffy she got for Valentine's Day. (Notice the festive shirt!)

HI! Its Kinley here. This is a picture of me and Mommy. Don't we look cute in our pink. I think we look great. We had an okay day. I got to sleep a lot, play hard while Mom and Dad worked out, and then rode in the car forever only getting out to go look in other people's houses. I think Mom and Dad find this entertaining because we've done this 4 or 5 times now. Anyway, I had a great Valentine's Day - Hope you did too!

Kiss and Tell

Today at the track there was a mom and little boy playing. When Kinley finally noticed them, we went over to say hi. This boy was about 18 months old and only a little bigger than Kinley, but most importantly he was playing with a ball. When we got close, I told Kinley to say hi to him, but to my amazement...she sheepishly kept walking closer to him with her mouth open to kiss him. He instinctively backed away from her and waved. She tried one more time and then came running to me to hide behind my legs. She apparently got over her rejection because they continued to play and she only tried to kiss him once more with the same result - rejection. I thought I had to worry about her diva behavior, but I'm thinking I should be more concerned with her wanting to kiss strangers (even though he was really cute). I didn't think this was supposed to happen until she got over the cootie germs. Oh, well she keeps me smiling.

Oregon Sports Awards

Nike called and asked Tom to present one of the awards at the Oregon Sports Awards. So... this past weekend we took a "short" trip to Portland. After Tom's workout on Saturday we drove to Kansas City to fly out to Portland. We arrived with no problems, just cramped legs and a tired little girl. Sunday we walked around downtown for a little while after breakfast and went back to the hotel for a nap. Luckily we were all ready to catch a few zzz. We had to be at the rehearsal at 4:00 and the show didn't start until 7:00. Yes, it was a long time, but Kinley had fun running around the green room and talking with so many different people. Tom and high school twin runners presented the Steve Prefontaine award to the most outstanding high school senior. They all did really well. The highlight of the night had to be Sammy Carlson (X-game silver medalist skier) presenting. He was so funny and carefree. After he announced the winner, he hooted and clapped - priceless. So after a long day, we were taken back to our hotel, packed and got to bed early for our 7:45am flight.

Notice Tom's new suit. He looked sharp. I also think we might have a problem on our hands. Here you will notice Kinley talking on a cell phone. She's only 11 months old and already she thinks she should have her own phone. I know she can't talk, doesn't know any numbers and has no one to call, but I mostly worried this will lead to more diva-like behavior.

A Day at the Office

Well, I just wanted all of you to know what Mom and Dad have me doing these days...

Here I am setting up some equipment for Dad's workout. Don't worry though, I have it under control. I was trying to show Daddy how to high jump, but I think he knows all ready.

Next we moved on to the pole vault. I think my job is to make sure the box is the right size and at the right angle. Looked good to me!

We slowed down and did a little shot put. Dad only throws a little bit farther than I do. I'm sure I'll catch up when I start lifting heavier.

Here we are at the hurdles. I know you think I'm too short, but I'm getting really fast!

I'm finishing up here doing a little multiple throws with Dad. Sometimes he lets me roll the ball back to him. I was helping get the ball out of the net. Apparently Mom thinks this is a safer way to help. Well, that's a typical morning for me. Its no wonder I usually need a nap on the way home. Wouldn't you?

Summer Preview

I realize when most of you see this picture you will think we are cruel, but...it really does make sense. The other day we decided to go in the hot tub at Cliff and Karol's house, so we had to break out the new swimwear. Tom and I don't have anything new yet. This is Kinley's 2007 suit. I am pretty excited it fits and looks so cute because I bought it on clearance last season. Thank goodness for sales!
